Question 4 Evaluation Technology

Question 3 Evaluation Audience Research

Audience feedback is an important part of the production process as it allows me to make necessary changes to my products in order to reach the target audience. They give answers that are useful to making my product better because they will be the people watching it. They say what they would like to see and what would make a product good so I can incorporate the ideas into making my product better for the target audience. I used different formats to get the neccessary feedback such as survey monkey and wallwisher. I used social networking sites like facebook and twitter to get my survey out to the public and to reach my target audience and on my blog.

The target audience like to feel tense and not know what is going to happen next so my use of close ups and hand held camera worked well. The close ups showed the characters and their emotions and the hand held camera made it feel like the audience was in on the action so were scared.
The use of mise en scene helped the target audience feel scared because they were in realistic clothing so would find it easy to relate to.
I could improve on my trailer by making the scenes a bit shorter so it was more fast paced, making the audience feel tense.
They liked the use of colours in my ancillary products because I used the same colour scheme in both products of red, black and white. The audience said that the colours made them think of fear and blood which was typical of the genre. My intentions were for the colours to connote these feelings so the colour scheme was successful.
I also used the same font for the title of the film to make it recognisable and the audience said that it looked destroyed which was conventional of the genre.
The images I used made them feel scared because she was covered in blood, had ripped clothes and was in an isolated place with low key lighting. It was also the victim in the trailer so they said that they could link all my products together easily.

Question 2 Evaluation Main Product and Ancillary Texts

From creating a clear link between my main product and the ancillary products the audience will find it easier to recognize the product. The use of mise en scene allowed me to make a clear character profile for the protagonist which portrays her as the victim in the film. The blood on her and ripped clothes show that she has been attacked and contrasts with the film title 'Revenge'. After seeing the trailer the audience will realise that it is her that gets revenge, giving the film a twist and being typical to the horror film genre. They will either view her as a victim or be scared of her and so the link between the main product and ancillary text will help to promote the film as a horror film.
I used the same font on the poster, magazine and a similar one in the trailer to show make it well known and allow the audience to be able to identify and become familiar with it. When they see the font they will be able to relate it back to my horror trailer and hopefully the more they see the font, and are exposed to it, the more they will want to watch the horror film when it comes out.
